Founding
Story

In 2015, after witnessing the rate at which actions of communities such as commercialized charcoal burning, improper wastes (plastic) disposal, were causing environmental degradation, the youth in Moroto founded Karamoja Youth Effort to Save Environment-KAYESE 256 and later incorporated in November 2022 to adopt a name “KAYESE Community Organization” abbreviated as KAYESE 256.

To champion an integrated Community development approaches, livelihood promotion and natural resource management.

Our Vision

A Karamoja community living a dignified life and identity, with capabilities to sustain secure livelihoods, peace and enhanced environmental conservation.

Our Partners

KYESE 256 has partnered with several entities like Advocates for Natural Resources and Development (ANARDE) and Advocats Sans Frontieres (ASF) to promote and safeguard the rights of communities in mining hotspots in Moroto. We advocate for safe extractive activities, fair share of benefits from the mining industry and rights of communities in these mining areas.

Promite cultural tourism and engage with agricultural practices, fostering sustainable rural development and enriching both travelers and local communities."

Biodiversity and conservation

Preserving biodiversity through effective conservation measures to ensures the resilience of ecosystems that provide invaluable resources that sustain all forms of life

We work with communities to uphold the inherent dignity and equality of all individuals, while fostering justice, inclusivity, and empowerment in societies
